There’s a new restaurant in town, and not just new in the sense of a grand opening, but more so in the sense of what this restaurant has to offer. Ddeb’s is a unique eatery, offering an atmosphere and menu like no other restaurant in Chesapeake. Debbie Toth, the owner, made sure of these qualities when deciding to open a restaurant of her very own.
While spending most of her life in East Lyme, Connecticut, Debbie worked in the food service industry for well over twenty years. She met her husband in the restaurant she was working in, along with many other Hampton Roads Civil Service workers. After marrying her husband, she moved to Chesapeake, Virginia in the year 2002 with her two youngest sons. Her oldest son remained in Connecticut, keeping true to the family talent of cooking; he’s a very talented chef as well.
Deb has always enjoyed being involved in the restaurant business, as she is naturally hospitable and keen for cooking. She did her fair share of preparing meals and banquets for her family and friends in Connecticut. Using the same recipes for over twenty years, her food never failed to impress and satisfy all who had the opportunity to taste it. Debbie’s enthusiasm and experience resulted in her venture of owning a restaurant. She’s carried those personal recipes into her restaurant, Ddeb’s, in hopes of sharing “A Taste of Home”, her home, with the community here in Chesapeake, and all of Hampton Roads.
Not only does Debbie have a passion for cuisine, but also for giving back to the community. Ddeb’s accepts non-perishable food items which are donated to the Great Bridge United Methodist Church Food Closet. She’s offering a ten percent discount to those who bring in five items to contribute. Deb also has hosted two annual food drives at her own home, and hosts an annual Toys For Tots party. For Thanksgiving and Christmas , her restaurant will be serving families of need as well. Debbie’s youngest son attends a local high school here in Chesapeake, so she’s a big supporter of Chesapeake Public Schools, offering teachers ten percent off their meal.
With her New England flair and acquired Southern charm, Debbie Toth has created a warm, welcoming, and cutting-edge place to eat. Her menu is made up of delectable dishes such as gorgonzola bread, tortellini soup, shrimp salad sandwiches, filet mignon, cream puffs, and many more. She’ll welcome you into her restaurant with a smile and witty conversation, and be delighted to offer you “A Taste of Home”.
